The former Million Air FBO facility at New Orleans Lakefront Airport that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005 will officially rise from the ashes tomorrow when Odyssey Aviation opens its new 30,000-sq-ft complex. Although the name is different, the FBO is under the same ownership; the Cincinnati-headquartered FBO group rebranded its seven FBOs from Million Air to Odyssey Aviation in 2008. Its rebuilt New Orleans facility–which includes a 10,000-sq-ft terminal building, a 20,000-sq-ft hangar and 350,000 sq ft of ramp space–has been moved east across Runway 36L so it’s no longer adjacent to Lake Pontchartrain. Odyssey has been operating out of a temporary facility since five weeks after Katrina hit, and it broke ground last July on the permanent complex. The new terminal features an ellipse-shaped lobby “equipped with all of the amenities you’ve come to expect in a top-ranked FBO.” This includes pilot and passenger lounges, flight planning room, pilot snooze room and Wi-Fi, among others. Odyssey plans on celebrating the FBO’s opening with a crawfish boil when the season starts next month.
