Odyssey Aviation, the former Million Air FBO facility at New Orleans
Lakefront Airport that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, opened its new 30,000-sq-ft complex last month. The Lakefront FBO had been operating in temporary facilities while the approval process and construction of the new FBO took place. Odyssey Lakefront is part of Cincinnati-headquartered Odyssey Aviation, which owns seven FBOs. The new Lakefront facility includes a 10,000-sq-ft terminal building, a 20,000-sq-ft hangar and 350,000 sq ft of ramp space. Odyssey built the new FBO complex east of the original FBO’s location, across Runway 36L, so it’s no longer adjacent to Lake Pontchartrain. The new terminal features an ellipse-shaped lobby with pilot and passenger lounges, flight planning room, pilot snooze room and wireless Internet access.
