Hot section: Lufthansa Technik Steps Up Its Presence in Berlin

Lufthansa Technik plans to build a new aircraft maintenance hangar at the future Berlin Brandenburg International airport. The new hangar, which is expected to enter service in 2012, will have three bays for short- and medium-range aircraft. According to the company the facility is slated to be used to maintain Lufthansa aircraft; however, it will have the flexibility to expand to accommodate other customers of Lufthansa Technik in Berlin.

“Berlin-based Lufthansa Technik has been doing well for quite a few years,” a spokesman for the company told AIN. “When you combine that with the growth in traffic we are expecting we have decided it is appropriate to expand our services.”
