Reno-based FBO and charter operator Jet West took over the former Air Trails FBO at Salinas Municipal Airport in central California last year and remodeled the entire facility. Jet West Salinas held a grand opening on March 1. Salinas is a convenient alternate airport when the Monterey peninsula is fogged in, said Jet West general manager Ryan Gauger. "We saw some opportunity here," he added, with local agriculture businesses big users of general aviation. The extensive remodeling–"We might as well have built a new FBO," said Gauger–includes amenities such as a sleeping area and showers, workout room, conference room, kitchen and pool table, as well as a 6,400-sq-ft hangar.
