Bombardier Aerospace is offering a new service it calls Parts Satisfaction Guarantee, which waives the shipping, labor and restocking charges in applicable situations. According to the OEM the service also makes substantial headway in reducing the incidence of no-fault found (NFF) and defective on arrival (DOA) parts currently in circulation. “An NFF component is one that has no fault detected by the acceptance test procedure in the approved supplier repair station but that is not functioning properly when installed on the airframe,” Andy Nureddin, v-p of customer services and support told AIN. “NFF and DOA components are an industry-wide issue and we believe firm steps are needed to deal with this key customer irritant. We expect to dramatically reduce the number of NFF and DOA parts in circulation, while addressing suspect and rogue units, once and for all.” Bombardier plans to track suspect and rogue units at the serial-number level and work closely with suppliers to ensure performance targets are met, Nureddin said.
