Embraer signed a framework agreement with Aviation Industry Corporation of China (Avic) on April 12 to produce Legacy 650s at the Harbin Embraer Aircraft plant, which has assembled and delivered 39 ERJ145s since opening in early 2003. The Legacy 650 is based on the ERJ135, a truncated version of the ERJ145. Embraer told AIN that it will also continue to manufacture Legacy 650s in Brazil. The parties expect to cement the Harbin deal in the near future.
