Rockwell Collins Moving Fusion into Part 23 Market

Rockwell Collins is moving aggressively into the light jet and turboprop market with a new version of Pro Line Fusion targeted at smaller aircraft. The new system offers touchscreen control on the primary flight displays, head-up guidance system capable of displaying synthetic vision imagery, “autonomous backup flight control modes, MultiScan weather threat detection and full integration with Ascend flight information solutions,” according to Rockwell Collins. Pro Line Fusion has been selected for 11 platforms, including the new Gulfstream G280 and Bombardier Learjet 85 and was certified on the Bombardier Global 6000 in June. The new Pro Line Fusion system will be certified by the end of 2013 and is available for new aircraft programs as well as retrofit to Pro Line 21 cockpits in light jets and turboprops. A key feature that makes the new system possible for smaller aircraft is the lightweight self-contained HGS-3500 head-up display, which needs no external projector. Autonomous backup can assist disoriented pilots by positioning the airplane in a safe-altitude holding pattern and with guidance cues to the nearest airport after engine failure.
