In a ceremony attended by Canada’s Prime Minister, the City of Peterborough, Ontario, announced the conclusion of a C$28.6 million upgrade project to Peterborough Airport. The project, funded by national, provincial and city grants, has increased the airport’s runway length from 5,000 to 7,000 feet and created a new aviation industrial park with new areas for aircraft fueling and maintenance. A new central apron and air terminal rounds out the project. In addition to spurring the growth of existing aerospace companies such as completions specialist Flying Colours, the city is targeting airframe and engine MRO providers, manufacturers and flight training operators as priority tenants for the newly upgraded facility.
