Santa Monica Airport Commission Seeks Daily Ops Limit

The Santa Monica Airport Commission has proposed limiting the number of flights at Santa Monica Airport to 53 percent of prior year daily operations. The commission didn’t provide any details about exactly how such a limit would be enacted. For example, would the tower turn away any aircraft over the limit? In commenting on the proposal, attorney Barbara Lichman wrote in Aviation and Airport Development Law News, “The airport commission’s optimism concerning the sustainability of its proposal, and, ultimately, its ability to withstand administrative and/or judicial scrutiny, is in serious question.”
