Lyon Bron airport in central France is bucking the trend with an 8.3-percent year-over-year growth in business aviation traffic over the first nine months to 4,767 aircraft movements, according to local statistics. Europe-wide data indicates a 4-percent drop in business aviation traffic over the same period.

“We are the only one, in the country’s top-five business airports, to record such a positive trend,” business unit manager Eric Dumas told AIN. He attributes it to the Lyon region’s dynamic economy and the steady activity of Bron-based operators. Dumas was speaking at an educational event where he and his team had invited local entrepreneurs and company top executives as potential business aviation users of the airport.

Lyon Bron’s aggressive marketing efforts are apparently paying off, as the airport recently gained three new operators. JetCorp, which earned its air operator certificate in July, now operates two Beech King Air 90s from the airfield. Le Bourget-headquartered Cessna Citation Mustang operator Wijet selected Bron as one of its bases, starting this month. Finally, bankrupt aircraft charter firm THS has been reborn under the Aerojet Corporate brand and currently flies four Falcon 50s and 100s from the airport.
