Operators of the Gulfstream IV, GIV-SP, G400 and G300 can now upgrade their Honeywell FMZ-2000 flight management system with Waas-LPV capability. The new FMS 6.1 upgrade is available from Gulfstream service centers and takes about five days to install, including addition of two GPS antennas, two Waas receivers and two cockpit annunciators. In addition to adding Waas-LPV approach capability, FMS 6.1 provides, according to Honeywell, “Basic improvements such as circling approaches, en route hold procedures [and] Vnav temperature compensation.” The upgrade also helps operators that are preparing to fly RNP Saaar (special aircraft and aircrew authorization required) operations, according to Gulfstream, “and provides a building block for Future Air Navigation System (Fans) 1/A.”
