Skandia Offers All-inclusive 16G Dress Covers

Content Body

Skandia introduced an all-inclusive service that provides business aircraft MROs and regional jet operators a more efficient method to meet the requirements of 16g replacement dress cover certification with regards to the modification of a TSO’d aircraft cabin seat under the guidelines of FAA AC 21-25A.

“In 1988 the FAA issued a 16g requirement to make aircraft seats safer. It required that a seat must meet certain dynamic loads, and that included the upholstery,” Gary Palmer, president, told AIN. “As aircraft grow older and seat covers need to be replaced it’s a challenge because people are used to the old way of just taking it to a shop and reupholstering it. Today it’s much more complicated and there really hasn’t been a clear-cut way to do it. What we offer is an all-inclusive process.”

The company offers the engineering, approval, flammability testing and modification tags so a repair station or interior shop can do the final installation. The company believes the service saves customers several weeks of consulting multiple sources.
