Dallas Aeronautical Services (DAS) recently began construction of a $3 million, 50,400-sq-ft facility on three acres in the High Meadows Industrial Park, Cedar Hill, Texas. The new facility is expected to open in next year’s first quarter.

The company currently overhauls and repairs all the components in a leased five-building, 22,500-sq-ft complex.

According to DAS vice president Mike Manning, the new facility will have two autoclaves, two custom paint centers, an environmentally controlled clean room, spacious walk-in oven, and transmissivity test range. A complete machine shop will house four- and five-axis and press forming equipment, Tig and Mig welding, an NDT lab, and three dust collection and sanding centers. The facility will also feature a structures shop, a radome shop, and an advanced composite and thrust reverser overhaul shop.

“The new facility is designed to optimize workflow and include state-of-the-art equipment and lighting,” said Manning. He added, “The improved shop flow, best possible lighting, increased bond and finish capabilities will ensure our people will be able to provide the required quality and turn time more easily, while allowing DAS to adapt and grow with our customers’ changing needs.”
