Duncan Aviation Expands Commitment To Going Green

When Lincoln, Neb.-based Duncan Aviation broke ground on its new 175,000-sq-ft maintenance hangar facility it did so with the recommendations of the MRO’s Green Team in mind. The original design included recommended elements such as LED lights, radiant floor heating and skylights.

Building on the green philosophy, Duncan Aviation is adding five charging stations for electric vehicles outside the new maintenance hangar. The company has alotted space for five more stations, to be added when more employees invest in electric cars. Many Duncan Aviation employees commute from smaller communities at some distance from the airport, making a charging station not only convenient but necessary for those who exceed the 60 to 260 miles per charge range of most electric vehicles.

Investing in the community and minimizing the company’s impact on the environment are two factors Duncan Aviation considers when upgrading, improving or expanding one of its locations, according to Jeannine Falter, v-p of business development. The company’s facility in Battle Creek, Mich. also offers two charging stations that employees have been using for more than a year.
