Garmin Introduces Low-cost ADS-B OUT Solution for Aircraft

Garmin announced the GDL 84 ADS-B datalink, which provides an all-inclusive, minimally intrusive ADS-B OUT solution without the need to significantly modify the aircraft panel or the need for a multifunction display. When paired with Garmin’s Flight Stream Bluetooth wireless gateway, the system also provides ADS-B IN benefits, including access to advanced traffic and subscription-free weather information, within the Garmin Pilot app on a mobile device. The GDL 84 is expected to receive FAA Approved Model List supplemental type certification in the first quarter. The GDL 84 system with the Flight Stream 110 wireless gateway is expected to be available at that time starting at $3,995, Garmin said.
