Toolcraft Adds Fluorescent Crack Detection NDT

Toolcraft of Georgensgmund, Germany, has introduced a non-destructive testing method for verfying the integrity of precision parts and high-tech components. The object to be tested is wetted with a fluorescent penetrant that reveals even the smallest crack under UVA light. The system allows Toolcraft to check components for cracks, overlaps, folds, pores and binding errors in the surface. The process is used primarily on metallic materials, although it can also be applied to other materials such as ceramics, assuming the surface is suitable for testing with penetrants.
