Atlantic Aviation broke ground Dec. 15 on a $24 million upgrade of its FBO at Houston Hobby Airport. Since 1972, the Texas-based service provider has operated a 12,000-sq-ft terminal in a former Eastern Airlines maintenance hangar.
The project will provide a new-build 15,000-sq-ft terminal, along with a pair of 32,000-sq-ft hangars capable of sheltering large-cabin Gulfstreams and Bombardier Globals, and a new fuel farm. An existing 34,000-sq-ft hangar will also be renovated, giving the location nearly 100,000 sq ft of hangar space.
Once the current construction is finished in early 2017, the old terminal and a 43,000-sq-ft hangar will be demolished to restore lost ramp space and make way for possible construction of a third new 32,000-sq-ft hangar later.
