The Air Charter Association of North America (Acana) published best practices for charter providers and brokers that “engage in the arranging of brokering aircraft.” The 12-page document, "Contract Best Practices" (CBP), addresses recommended contract language, credit-card payments, agency relationships, waivers of subrogation, flight irregularities, payments and cancellation, force majeure and numerous other issues associated with crafting effective contract agreements.

Scott Bickford, Acana's co-founder and CEO of Air Planning, credited the CBP as a collaboration between Acana’s board and Dayton Lehman Jr., the former U.S. DOT principal deputy assistant general counsel of the aviation enforcement office. Lehman is now president of Capitol Business Solutions’ aviation group, which provides aviation legal and management consulting services.

Acana will discuss the CBP document and other issues affecting the air charter industry next month at the NBAA Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference in San Jose, Calif. It will hold a press conference at the show in room 211C on February 4 at 2 p.m.
