Honda Aircraft took delivery of and is installing the first HondaJet simulator at its headquarters campus in Greensboro, N.C. Developed through a partnership with FlightSafety International, the full-motion, FAA level-D simulator will be housed at the HondaJet Training Center. FlightSafety, which built the trainer at its Broken Arrow, Okla. facility, also developed the training program in concert with Honda Aircraft.
The simulator arrived as the HondaJet nears certification. Honda Aircraft has been ramping up production and expanding facilities at its headquarters in preparation for certification in the first half of this year. The company has been building a showroom and delivery hangar for the $4.5 million light jet, which sports an over-the-wing engine configuration. The company expects 50 aircraft to come off the line in the first year of production. Four production-conforming aircraft in the flight-test program have accrued more than 2,000 hours.
