EASA Proposes AD on Pilatus PC-12

The European Aviation Safety Agency on March 9 proposed Airworthiness Directive 15-024 for the Pilatus PC-12 addressing a potentially unsafe condition that could result from a disconnected aileron trim tab occurring above 10,000 feet. The AD states that a failure to correct the problem “could lead, in case of a disconnection of an aileron trim tab, to undamped airplane vibrations, potentially resulting in structural failure.”

Pilatus Aircraft has issued Service Bulletin No. 27-021 that outlines replacement of the aileron tab counter balance weight with a new, slightly heavier aileron tab counterweight.

Questions and comments about AD 15-204 should be e-mailed to the Certification Directorate's Safety Information Section at EASA. The comment period ends April 6. This directive will take effect 14 days after the final AD issue date.
