With the Masters golf tournament just a few weeks away (April 9 to April 12), the FAA published ATC guidelines to help keep traffic flowing smoothly at Augusta Regional at Bush Field (AGS), Aiken Municipal (AIK), Daniel Field (DNL) and Thomson-McDuffie County (HQU) Airports during the event. No FAA E-STMP slots will be required for any of these airports during the tournament, although each airport may handle advance notifications a bit differently.
FAA traffic management initiatives are likely during periods of peak demand and may include collaborative trajectory options program (CTOP), ground stops and in-trail restrictions. When CTOP is used, those procedures will be airport-specific and include expected departure separation times.
An FAA Notam provides specific details for route planning into and out of the Augusta area, while an NBAA published letter to operators outlines frequently asked questions. Crews will need to check with each FBO for details of the ramp fees expected to be instituted for the tournament.
