Content Body

The helicopter industry, airport partners and the FAA launched an online automated complaint system (ACS) WebTrak application that allows Los Angeles Basin residents to review and identify helicopter operations and file a noise complaint about them. The system is part of the Los Angeles Helicopter Noise Initiative launched by the FAA in 2012, and data from it will be used by the FAA to increase community understanding and to formulate helicopter noise-abatement solutions.

BrĂ¼el & Kjaer developed the ACS to provide helicopter-complaint data correlated with flight tracks. Complainants can use the system to identify specific offending helicopter operations by date and time. Using available radar data, the system automatically adds flight track data to the complaint. Complaints can also be filed without identifying a specific flight track when radar data is not available. The system also has an automated phone-reporting option.
