Hamburg, Germany-based completion specialist Lufthansa Technik (Booth P118) is introducing its Executive Shuttle interior concept to customers in Asia this week at ABACE 2015. The modular design, available for Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 narrowbodies, is aimed at price-sensitive customers.
It offers a large variety of cabin layouts for executive shuttle configurations that make partial use of refurbished existing airline cabin interiors. The 20 different cabin designs range from all business/first class interiors to more sophisticated configurations that include sleeping options, meeting and dining areas, or private rooms.
Executive Shuttle configurations for the A320 carry 20 to 50 passengers, while Boeing 737 conversions can carry 20 to 56. Conversion times range from two to six months, depending on the selected interior.
Walter Heerdt, senior v-p for VIP & Executive Jet Solutions, said Lufthansa Technik is “in touch with several potential customers” interested in the concept. Those in Asia “are looking for possibilities to offer their guests an exclusive onboard ambiance while using the aircraft for their executive shuttle service,” not to mention staying within a “reasonable” cost. “We think that our concept meets exactly these customer requirements, since it gives a second life to pre-owned narrowbody aircraft,” Heerdt said.
The company is cooperating with Hong Kong consultancy Asian Sky Group (Chalet Display), which has expertise in evaluating and acquiring pre-owned aircraft. Refurbishments will be performed at Lufthansa Technik’s VIP completion centers.
