A TBM 850 crashed during an attempted go-around on approach to Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport (KMWC) in Milwaukee shortly after 6 p.m. last night in VFR conditions. Witnesses report the airport appeared to be making a slipping maneuver to the runway when the pilot broke off the approach and reported to the control tower that he was “going around.” The aircraft was then observed hitting terrain right-wing-down and cartwheeling before being consumed in a post-impact fire. Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

N425KJ was a 2009 Daher TBM 850 registered to Trustey Management of Boston. AIN can confirm that the pilot was Joseph F. Trustey, 52, and that the other occupant was his daughter Anna. According to FAA data, Trustey held a third-class medical with commercial, instrument, and multi-engine ratings and was type-rated in the Embraer Phenom 300. A spokesman for the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s office said that Timmerman was not the aircraft’s planned destination.
