The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) recently wrapped its first Cabin Service Conference with an eye toward fostering best practices in the profession. The event, held September 11, drew cabin crew, caterers and pilots who listened to speakers who focused on safety, collaboration with the flight deck and ground staff, and the value that the cabin crew brings to the flight.

Keynote speaker U.S. Air Force Thunderbird Demonstration Team Commander Ron Mumm addressed the importance of teamwork. Other speakers included Dianora Consulting & Support manager Diane Peeters, Air Culinaire Worldwide vice president of flight attendant services John Detloff and Sajet Solutions president and founder Scott Arnold.

EBAA noted the essential role the cabin crew has in safety given the multiple roles involved in the profession. “Whether wearing the hat of a fire fighter, medical assistant, police, referee or life saver, cabin crew play an important role in ensuring the safety and security of business aviation passengers,” said EBAA CEO Fabio Gamba. This makes it particularly important that crewmembers employ best practices and remain current in training, the association said. “This European Cabin Service Conference is a good first step toward achieving this,” Gamba said.
