GAMA has scheduled its next jobs rally for November 20 at Dassault Falcon's New Castle Airport facility in Wilmington, Del. The rally, the 14th such event GAMA has staged since 2009, provides a forum for industry, local and national leaders to highlight the importance of general aviation to both the local and national economies. The events have drawn thousands of aviation workers, dignitaries and other interested parties and have served as a key tool to educate the general public about the industry.
In Delaware, Gov. Jack Markell, U.S. Sens. Tom Carper (D-Del.) and Chris Coons (D-Del.) and Rep. John Carney (D-Del.) are scheduled to speak alongside leaders from Dassault Falcon, FlightSafety International, Pats Aircraft and Summit Aviation. They will emphasize recent studies that the industry supports 2,600 jobs and $588 million in economic output annually in the state.
The first rally was held in Arkansas as the industry faced substantial negative publicity following the trek of Detroit automaker executives to Washington aboard business jets in November 2008 to seek congressional aid for their financially troubled companies.
