Portland, Maine-based Mac Air Group plans to launch a new regional fractional ownership program using a fleet of six refurbished Hawker 1000s early next year. Under its QJet Shares program, ownership of each aircraft will be limited to six individuals, or corporations, who demonstrate similar travel profiles. The hourly rate will be $2,850, the company said.
Maine Aviation Aircraft Maintenance will maintain the fleet, while Maine Aviation Aircraft Charter will manage and operate the aircraft. The refurbishment and overhaul of the Hawker 1000s will include new interiors, Wi-Fi connectivity, flight-tracking technology and extra baggage capacity. Upon completion, three of the twinjets will be based in Florida and the other three in the U.S. Northeast.
A “Trip Share” feature will allow owners to share aircraft with other owners, “splitting the hours between them to maximize their annual hourly allowance,” MAC Air said. Trip Share also allows owners to offset the cost of empty-leg hours by offering them for charter.
