Global fuel distributor Avfuel will expand its Online Rampside Training Course with six new modules, dealing with topics such as de-icing and anti-ice procedures, aircraft marshaling, towing, radio etiquette, record keeping and supervisor training. According to the Michigan-based company, its training program arose in response to an industry-wide push for standardized practices through recent programs such as the International Standard for Business Aviation Handling (IS-BAH).

“Our highest mission is safety,” said Avfuel marketing manager Buffey Muth. “These supplementary lessons will offer our FBOs more convenient tools to train their employees on safe handling procedures. This helps ensure our branded customers not only meet industry standards, but exceed them.”

Avfuel sees its course as a supplement to or even replacement for other more expensive “per seat” line staff training programs. Requiring just one subscription per FBO to cover every employee, the program mitigates costs associated with paying to train line technicians who then leave, requiring training of a new line service worker. Current courses include fuel handling and fire safety, aviation fuels and additives, fuel system icing inhibitor, contaminants and fuel testing methods, procedures for receiving fuel loads, aviation fueling components and fuel storage systems, among others.

The new modules will be available for current subscribers by year-end and will be included on all future subscriptions.
