Bombardier Challenger 601-3A/3Rs equipped with the Honeywell NZ-2000 FMS can now be upgraded to meet the U.S.'s 2020 ADS-B OUT mandate, thanks to FAA approval of an STC developed jointly by Safran Engineering Services and Duncan Aviation.
The STC upgrades the existing Rockwell Collins TDR-94D transponder to the latest DO260B configuration for ADS-B OUT. A Blue Avionics filter router is also installed to enable proper communication between the GPS position source in the NZ-2000 FMS and the transponder.
The STC, which is owned by Safran Engineering Services-Americas, is available from any Rockwell Collins dealer and Duncan Aviation, according to Safran Engineering Services aftermarket sales manager Scott Hall. The upgrade is an approved model list STC, which will be extended next to the Bombardier Learjet 60; Gulfstream G100 and G200; Dassault Falcon 50/50EX; and Hawker 800 series. Safran also plans to obtain STC approval from EASA and Transport Canada.
