Fractional and air charter industry veteran Jeff Reid has launched Jet Auditors, aiming to help aircraft owners lower their operating and maintenance costs. “Many people don’t realize that the multimillion-dollar purchase price of a private jet is the cheap part,” he said. “Most of the cost comes in operating and maintaining the aircraft, which is where Jet Auditors’ new service is focusing.”
For a fixed monthly fee, Jet Auditors, acting as an impartial consultant to the aircraft owner, will review invoices and advise clients on ways to lower costs. “Aviation invoices have a language of their own, often using acronyms and highly specific technical terminology that most internal accounting departments are unfamiliar with,” said Reid, who is the former president and CEO of Houston-based charter firm Wing Air and has held executive-level positions at Million Air Charter, Executive Jet Management and NetJets. “Even a small invoicing error, in an already complex monthly statement, can add up to tens of thousands of dollars in unwarranted charges.”
In addition to potentially lowering costs, this service gives an aircraft owner access to an experienced aviation manager and aircraft broker “who can be an impartial sounding board on major upgrades or capital investments in the aircraft,” Reid said.
