Rockwell Collins ARINCDirect is now offering an airborne data router (ADR) for enhanced connectivity through a partnership with TrueNorth Avionics, the companies announced today. The ADR will support a new suite of connectivity features and services being launched by ARINCDirect, including enhancements to security.

“Connectivity has become a critical part of an aircraft’s capabilities,” said David Stanley, vice president of ARINCDirect cabin services. “The Rockwell Collins ADR creates one network with the ability to prioritize traffic to effectively manage an entire suite of connectivity options through one device.”

The onboard data router integrates connectivity throughout the aircraft, allowing passengers to use their own devices for email, web browsing, videoconferencing, streaming videos and social media, among others. According to Rockwell Collins, the modular-design ADR provides a choice of satcom service providers, including Ka-, Ku- and L-band satellites, as well as air-to-ground (ATG) and GSM cellular data systems.

Further, the ADR enables flight crews to access ARINCDirect service offerings, such as ARINCDirect Wi-Fi call and text, media content, international trip planning, Rockwell Collins’ cabin systems and weather services.
