Embraer has launched a new service and support business unit, which will begin operations in the first half of 2017. Under the leadership of Johann Bordais, previously director of services and support in the Brazilian airframer’s commercial aviation division, the new unit will consolidate capabilities that are currently spread throughout the company.
Currently, approximately 2,000 Embraer commercial aircraft are in service, along with another 1,000 business jets. The daily customer relationship structures will remain under the responsibility of their respective business units (executive jetsn, commercial and defense), but the new venture will be responsible for developing solutions in support of current and new products and services, as well as for managing the associated processes and resources.
“We are in a long-cycle business that is naturally demanding on services, favoring long-term relationships with customers,” said Bordais. “For the customer, this initiative combines a long experience in customer service, with the agility and competitiveness of a service center. For Embraer it represents an opportunity to obtain greater operational efficiency and recurring revenues.”
