Uber has partnered with Guidance Air to offer sightseeing helicopter rides over the Phoenix area, coinciding with the final games in the annual NCAA college basketball tournament. The "UberChopper" service started on Friday morning and can be ordered via smartphone until 6 p.m. today. Tonight's championship matchup of the annual NCAA showdown is between the Gonzaga Bulldogs and North Carolina Tarheels at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.
The flights cost $99 per person, which the companies said is $25 off the regular price. The fee includes one-way UberX ground transport in the Phoenix area to the Glendale Airport. In addition, customers will automatically be entered in a drawing to win a 20- to 25-minute helicopter excursion up the road in Sedona, where passengers can explore "700-year-old cliff dwellings from the air without even leaving a footprint."
UberChopper service is also available year-round in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and has been temporarily offered in other cities around the globe during major sporting events.
