The consolidation in the air ambulance industry continues with today's announcement, that Air Medical Group Holdings (AMGH) has agreed to acquire the Air Medical Resource Group (AMRG), which operates from 62 bases in 15 states. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. AMRG companies include Eagle Air Med, serving parts of Arizona, New Mexico, South Dakota, Colorado and Utah; Hawaii Life Flight in Hawaii; Guardian Flight in Alaska, Wyoming and Utah; Gallup Med Flight and MedStar in New Mexico; Aeromed in Puerto Rico; Valley Med Flight in North Dakota, Michigan, Montana, Wisconsin and Minnesota; Alaska Regional LifeFlight in Alaska; MountainStar AirCare operating in parts of Idaho, Wyoming and Utah; AeroCare Medical Transport serving the Navajo Nation in Arizona and the Four Corners region; and Wiregrass Life Flight serving Alabama.
Air Medical Group Holdings already is the nation's second-largest air ambulance provider behind Air Methods and owns Air Evac Life Team, AirMedCare Network, AirMed International, Lifeguard Ambulance, Med-Trans Corporation and Reach Air Medical Services.
Since 2015, AMGH has been owned by funds controlled by the New York investment bank KKR. AMGH operates a fleet of 300 medically equipped helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft from 270 locations.
