Gulfstream’s super-midsize G280 recently captured two more city-pair world speed records. On its way to the Avalon Airshow in Australia, the twinjet flew 3,332 nm (6,170 km) from Singapore to Melbourne in 7 hours and 21 minutes, at an average cruise speed of Mach 0.81. The business jet already holds the record for the Melbourne to Singapore leg. On return from the show, the G280 again departed Singapore, this time headed for Al Maktoum Airport in Dubai, where it completed the 3,177 nm (5,883 km) trip in 7 hours, and 18 minutes at a speed of Mach 0.82.
“Gulfstream customers can rely on the G280 for its performance agility around the world," said Scott Neal, the airframer’s senior vice president for worldwide sales. He pointed out that the 10-passenger jet already has garnered more than 60 city-pair records since its service entry in 2012. “Thanks to its speed and range capabilities, the G280 is the only super-midsize aircraft that can face considerable headwinds and still link Singapore to Dubai in record time.”
