Content Body

Florida-based global satellite connectivity provider Satcom Direct has sponsored the expansion and refurbishment of the crew facilities in the executive terminal at Latvia’s FBO Riga. The upgraded lounges, which now feature SD branding and signage, includes high-speed internet, Wi-Fi-enabled color printers, a kitchenette with hot and cold refreshments, new seating and shower facilities. The areas are on the sterile side of the facility, allowing crewmembers to access them directly from the aircraft without having to pass through security.

“It is extremely important for the crew to be comfortable, as this way they can save their time and do not have to worry about anything,” said Roman Starkov, co-owner of FBO parent company Flight Consulting Group. Since the project’s completion, crews arriving in the city for a “short turn" have been able to relax at the airport instead of seeking out hotels.

“We are really pleased to be sponsoring FBO Riga, which we view as a gateway to the east from Europe,” noted Evgeniy Pashkov, Satcom Direct’s business development manager for Russia and CIS, adding that the sponsorship also gives his company great visibility. “It’s an extremely well-run FBO with a strong focus on crew care, which is essential for safe flight operations.”
