The African Business Aviation Association (AfBAA) is gearing up to host the African Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition a few days after the Dubai Airshow concludes. Dubbed AfBAC Expo 17, the event will be held from November 29 to December 1 at Johannesburg’s Lanseria Airport in South Africa, and the agenda in the first day's conference will focus on "supporting African business aviation Evolution." The first AfBAC event took place in Cape Town a year ago but this year's will be larger and include a static aircraft display. It will be hosted by Execujet at its Lanseria FBO.

Speakers at the event include CEO of IBAC Kurt Edwards; NBAA v-p of regulatory and international affairs Doug Carr; GAMA senior v-p of international and environmental affairs Ed Smith; the keynote speech will be delivered by director of the South African Civil Aviation Authority, Poppy Khoza. Lectures will cover stimulating local demand, examining case studies for aircraft operation in Africa, reviewing how RPAS may make skies safer and imagining the future of aviation in Africa.

AfBAC will provide more than 60 hours of workshops at the event. The Air Law Firm will discuss value added tax on imports and exports, Satcom Direct tackles cyber security issue management and Jeppesen will examine digital navigation instructions.

“This event is not a talk box," said AfBAA CEO Rady Fahmy, "it’s an open forum where we are encouraging those with knowledge and expertise to share it, and those that want to improve their operational standards to come and learn about practical solutions. The response has been overwhelming and we’re delighted to be welcoming the world tour to our inaugural AfBAC [at Lanseria]. We are honored to have the endorsement of the South African Civil Aviation Authority and CAASA for the event.”

To date, AfBAC will host more than 10 aircraft on the static display as well as 50 exhibitors from around the world. Meanwhile, pre-registration before November 28 offers free entrance to the convention.
