Textron Aviation has begun deliveries of an order for nine King Airs to Canadian medical transport provider CanWest Air. The purchase consists of eight King Air 250s and one 350, which will replace the Nor-Alta Aviation Leasing company’s fleet of King Air B200 air ambulances. The new aircraft will include special modifications such as a cargo door and heavyweight landing gear, which will allow the turboprop twins to operate at an enhanced mtow of 13,420 pounds for the 250s and 16,500 pounds for the King Air 350. Both aircraft are able to operate on unimproved runways.
“The King Air platform is a tremendous asset, especially when navigating through remote areas and the extreme environment of Alberta,” explained Kevin Schaub, the company’s director of maintenance. “Having previously operated King Airs, this is the platform we trust to best support our air ambulance missions.”
CanWest also elected to enroll in Textron’s ProParts program for the new deliveries. The program covers parts and consumables required for line, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, while providing predictable pricing and greater budget stability, according to the airframer.
