The FAA has planned a series of weeklong training sessions on certification and surveillance of Part 145 repair stations. Held at FAA Academy in Oklahoma City, the sessions are designed to train aviation safety inspectors (ASIs) on repair station certification projects.

But the training sessions will have limited seats open to industry enrollment, the Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA) advised. “Attending a session like this is the perfect opportunity for an industry professional to go directly to the source and see what the FAA is teaching its own personnel," the association said. "It helps a lot to understand the perspective of an ASI, if you know what they’ve been told about the rules…and it provides an opportunity to help the agency make the whole process better.”

The first of the 10 sessions scheduled during 2018 will be held next week. It provides an overview on certification of repair stations both inside and outside the U.S., international maintenance agreements, application of risk-based certification management, and safety inspector surveillance, ARSA said. Those interested in attending can contact the FAA's Carl Hayes to inquire about seat availability.
