Amstat: Less Than 40% of Bizav Fleet Ready for ADS-B

Less than 40 percent of U.S.-based business jets and turboprops meet the FAA’s ADS-B Out equipment mandate, according to data from business aviation information firm Amstat and ADS-B Exchange, a co-op of ADS-B/mode-S/MLAT feeders from around the world.

The two companies worked together to cross-reference their respective global data sets to identify aircraft with or without ADS-B DO-260B, the avionics requirement that meets the FAA’s Jan. 1, 2020, mandate. Specifically, they said 39 percent of U.S.-based business jets and 38 percent of U.S.-based business turboprops are currently known to be compliant. Amstat and ADS-B Exchange will update this ADS-B information going forward.

“The addition of this compliance data to the global fleet tracked in Amstat Premier will enable MROs offering ADS-B services to quickly identify which aircraft are not ADS-B compliant and market their services accordingly,” said Amstat general manager Andrew Young. “Amstat remains committed to giving our clients a competitive advantage, and this is another example of where our data is doing that.”
