Delaware Coastal Airport (GED), through an agreement with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), can now accept international arrivals with prior notice. While CBP does not normally operate at the airport, according to Georgetown Aviation Services, the aviation service provider on the field, the new arrangement allows for international flights to receive customs clearance as long as it is requested at least 72 hours before landing. User end fees and international trash disposal will be assessed to the aircraft operator. In 2014 GED, which sees more than 35,000 operations annually, lengthened its main runway from 5,000 to 5,500 feet and plans call for the addition of another 500 feet in the coming years, as part of an ongoing $40 million infrastructure improvement plan.

“This new service is a great addition for the airport and adds a new level of convenience for our based customers and transient arrivals,” noted FBO owner Garrett Dernoga. “This development, combined with the recent runway extension and upgraded approach lighting, are examples of how Georgetown Air Service and Delaware Coastal Airport are continuously taking steps to improve our offering to benefit aircraft operators and passengers.”
