The upgraded Garmin G1000 NXi integrated flight deck is headed for the Piper M500. Compared with the turboprop single’s original G1000 avionics, the NXi version adds features such as SurfaceWatch runway monitoring technology and visual approaches.

Other features available with the NXi include geographical map overlay within the HSI, supporting the display of Nexrad and Flight Information Service-Broadcast (FIS-B) weather, weather radar, SafeTaxi airport diagrams, traffic, and terrain. On the multifunction display, pilots can overlay European visual reporting points on the moving map, as well as sectional and IFR low/high en route charts.

Meanwhile, Flight Stream 510 and Connext technology enables the wireless transfer of aviation databases from the Garmin Pilot app on a mobile device to the G1000 NXi.
