After experiencing criticism from the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) over the past year regarding general aviation services pricing at some of its locations, as well as a lack of transparency of this pricing, Signature Flight Support has begun posting handling fees for piston aircraft on its website. The servicing prices vary according to location and aircraft size, and pilots will still have to call the particular location to determine the cost for any additional fees such as parking, hangarage, and security, in addition to the minimum fuel purchase required at the location to waive some of the fees.
Signature vice president of marketing Patrick Sniffen told AOPA that the company wanted to make it easier for its customers to do business with the company and confirmed to AIN that Signature’s investment in IT infrastructure will also eventually lead to similar online publication of turbine fees at its FBOs.
AOPA president Mark Baker noted that his organization is not done with its fight against the FBO industry, stating, “This is a step in the right direction.”
