Content Body

Gulfstream’s G550 set a biofueled city-pair speed record on Friday en route to EBACE 2019. The long-range twinjet linked Charleston, South Carolina, with Farnborough, England, where the pre-show sustainable alternative jet (SAJF) fuel event, “Fueling the Future,” took place on Saturday. The twinjet covered the 3,591-nm (6,651-km) distance in 7 hours and 13 minutes, at an average speed of Mach 0.85. It then refueled on SAJF provided by World Fuel Services at TAG Farnborough Airport and continued its mission to Geneva, part of the 23 aircraft involved in the SAJF fly-in.

“Our record-breaking flight on the G550 is another example of our aircraft’s continued high performance with SAJF,” noted Gulfstream president Mark Burns. “This is a fuel that we use in Savannah and the fuel that we recommend, and sell, to our customers in Long Beach, California. It is safe, approved, does not hinder aircraft performance, and provides a long-term benefit to the environment.” This latest record was the airframer’s fifth city-pair title powered by SAJF.
