Duncan's New Provo Paint Shop Completes First Aircraft

The first completed aircraft paint project has rolled out of the new paint hangar at Duncan Aviation’s full-service facility in Provo, Utah. The Bombardier Global 5000 was inducted in mid-April and delivered less than a month later. Before the 53,000-sq-ft, environmentally friendly, state-of-the-art paint hangar came online, its staff had been training and preparing for months. While its first assignment proved a challenge with a complicated metallic black-to-charcoal fade, the team was ready.

“Although this was the first aircraft painted here at Duncan Aviation’s Provo facility, it did not feel like it," said Tom Indseth, the aircraft operator's director of maintenance. "Everyone working on the project has such confidence, and it really made me comfortable knowing that many of them had come from paint teams at the other Duncan Aviation facilities or had been training there for the past six months to a year.”

The eye-catching scheme was designed by Duncan designer Teri Nekuda, who has had a long relationship with the customer. “Tom looked over numerous designs before deciding to try a fade,” she said. “The project was a complete team effort and was completed and managed very well in Provo. All that matters, in the end, is that the customer is happy.”
