Latvia’s FBO Riga, part of the Flight Consulting Group, has become the first service provider in the country and one of the first in Europe to install its own explosive-detection security equipment for preflight screening of baggage, hold luggage, and passenger personal items, in accordance with EU Regulation 2015/1998, which was implemented in November 2015.
The acquisition of the Liquid Explosive Detection and Explosive Trace Detection equipment allows the FBO, which became the first in the region to earn IS-BAH Stage II registration earlier this year, to bring the entire baggage screening process in-house for the comfort and convenience of its customers.
“Before we had to request a special permit for alternative security measures for preflight screening of passengers and baggage,” said company co-owner Leonid Gorodnitski. “Now we are able to provide security screening at FBO Riga and…passengers are no longer required to be in person when inspecting their baggage.”
