Atlantic Aviation has become the latest FBO chain to begin offering permanent supplies of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Yesterday, the company’s facility at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) received its first shipment consisting of 7,800 gallons of the SAF blended fuel produced in nearby Paramount, California, by World Energy and delivered by World Fuel Services.

Fully miscible with conventional jet fuel, the SAF blend will be placed directly into the FBO’s fuel tank farm. It is expected to account for approximately 8 percent of Atlantic’s total jet fuel volume at LAX this year and reduce carbon emissions by 10.8 million pounds annually, equalling the emissions of 1,035 cars over the same span.

"The SAF delivery at LAX today, along with future deliveries, are a portion of our normal supply of jet fuel and demonstrates our commitment to carbon reduction,” Atlantic COO Tim Bannon told AIN. “While we currently do not have a point-of-sale application at this time, we are in negotiations with multiple flight departments about their interest in our available supply of SAF.”

Also in California, Monterey Jet Center has begun receiving continuous supplies of Neste MY SAF, distributed by Avfuel. For the Michigan-based fuel provider, this represents the first of its 650-plus network FBOs to make the renewable fuel available on a permanent basis.
