Work Underway at Trenton Mercer Airport's New FBO

FlightServ, one of two existing service providers at New Jersey’s Trenton Mercer Airport (KTTN), broke ground this week on its new FBO after a delay of several years. The company is currently based in a 2,000-sq-ft 1950s-era terminal and adjoining 34,000-sq-ft hangar, which are slated to return to the airport's control after the conclusion of the $25 million project.

When completed in mid-2022, it will include a 30,000-sq-ft, two-story terminal with build-to-suit office space and a heated 80,000-sq-ft hangar to shelter the newest ultra-long-range business jets. According to general manager Robbie Hunter, the extra space will allow the company to add amenities such as a crew rest lounge with multiple snooze rooms and a fully equipped catering kitchen.

The work also includes the demolition of structures on the 22-acre site, which was formerly home to the U.S. military’s Naval Warfare Center, and repaving the entire 17-acre ramp.

Serving the state’s capital, KTTN is midway between Teterboro and northeast Philadelphia, and the FBO provides transient overflow hangar space for the greater New York City area.
