Construction has begun on a new 16,000-sq-ft heated hangar at  Hazleton Regional Airport (KHZL) in eastern Pennsylvania. The project by aviation development company Olympus Air will feature 28-ft-high doors and be able to accommodate large-cabin business jets such as the Gulfstream G650. The hangar is slated to be completed in February.

Half of the hangar has already been claimed by Minnesota-based aircraft operator Global Air Charters, which is expanding its services into the area, while the remaining space will be available for lease. “We’ve been long-time tenants of Hazleton Regional Airport and are committed to supporting its growth with real estate development,” said Olympus Air owner Tom Kislan. “What benefits the airport, benefits the local community.”

The Allentown-area dedicated general aviation airport has a 5,000-foot runway and is home to more than 50 aircraft, including three jets and nine helicopters. It also has an Avfuel-branded FBO. Airport manager David Chronowski, added, “We look forward to welcoming more general aviation travelers to KHZL with expanded facilities and the subsequent services Global Air Charters will provide from the Olympus Air hangar.”
