A long-awaited new feature in ForeFlight (Pro Plus versions and above) enables per-leg altitude adjustments in flight plans.
Content Body

ForeFlight has added a much-requested feature to its Mobile EFB app in version 14.4: the ability to set different altitudes for each leg of a flight plan. The new feature is available for Pro Plus subscribers and above.

To access the new per-leg altitude feature, users can tap a waypoint’s label in the profile view, then set an altitude that will be displayed for the leg from that waypoint to the next. The user can select either to start at or cross at the new altitude at the selected waypoint and at a particular speed. ForeFlight uses its performance data for the aircraft being flown to calculate the climb or descent. For “cross at” selections, it will ensure that the aircraft climbs or descends so that it crosses the waypoint at the selected altitude and speed if selected.

The user can access the altitude selection menu either by tapping a waypoint in the profile view, in the route editor, or on the map. Using this feature allows pilots to plan a route below or above terrain, weather, or airspace constraints, and see these instantly in the profile view.

In the new version, ForeFlight also updated graphical notams worldwide instead of just for Europe, and these can be viewed in a new notams map layer. The layer has provisions to filter the types of notams that are shown, according to ForeFlight, including “toggles for Exercises, Controlled Airspaces, Obstacles, and Other.”

Other new features in version 14.4 include UL94 gas prices, distance rings in kilometers, customizable altitude instruments in meters, and runway analysis support for the Gulfstream G200.
